800 Numbers: No Brainer For Business

It used to be that getting one or more toll free phone numbers for your business was a serious consideration because of cost. Today, that's no longer true since the cost of getting a single 800 number can be less than your normal home phone service. And not only is the cost very reasonable, but many services also provide virtual PBX features and services as well and some are included with your toll free number. For business, this can be crucial, since an 800 phone number may be used for marketing and advertising. If the number just forwards to a single phone, many calls may be lost during peak usage. Setting up an auto attendant allows you to filter incoming calls and route them to different departments or staff members and avoids the bottleneck that used to cause problems.

And if you intend to use your 800 number for marketing and promotion, you will be happy to know that getting a toll-free
vanity number is no longer outrageously expensive either. In case you don't know, a vanity number is one where the numbers are selected so that if you dial them, the letters on the telephone keypad can form one or more words. if you select the right number with the right words, you can make it simple of customers to remember your phone number without writing it down, which can be a problem if you advertise on radio, podcasts, YouTube.com or television.

Lastly, the costs today are so low, that even if you don't have a business, but want to make it easy for family, friends, or loved ones to call you long distance, you can get your own
800 phone number and pay for their calls to you. As with the business use you may also have access to PBX features that you don't have with home or cell phone service, which can block telemarketers and allow you to use voice mail. But watch out, when your kids are away at school they may call you for money more often!
